Used by emergency care workers, outdoor enthusiasts, and even NASA astronauts, the SAM Splint is based on an ancient construction principle that curves are strong. Built from a thin core of aluminum alloy and sandwiched between two layers of closed-cell foam allows the splint to become extremely pliable. By bending the splint into any one of three simple curves, it can remain extremely rigid and supportive, even to the point where people have used it as an emergency canoe paddle or snow shovel. Extremely moldable, and soft enough to cut with a pair of ordinary household scissors. Using the enclosed training guide, it's possible to splint almost any bone in the body, and even possible to create an emergency cervical collar for neck injuries.
